E.M.T. & Paramedic 30-hour Refresher Course at National Registry Standards – in Classroom/Live Course w/ Practicum – New for 2023/2024/2025
at National Registry, State of Florida Standards, and the American Heart Association
* Some states require the traditional refresher course and will not accept continuing education hours. Please refer to your state’s particular requirements.
Additional EMS-Related Continuing Education-24 hours The following are the maximum hours per course that can be applied towards Additional EMS-Related Continuing Education hours:
- A maximum number of 12 hours can be applied from any one topic area
- Hour-for-hour credit can be applied for standardized courses (including, but not limited to, ABLS, ACLS, A.M.L.S., E.M.P.A.C.T., E.P.C., I.T.L.S., P.H.T.L.S., PALS, P.E.P.P., etc.)
- A maximum of 12 hours can be applied to each of the following courses: Teaching C.P.R., Emergency Driving, and Dispatch Training.
- A maximum of 12 hours can be applied from distributive education to this section, and it must be state—or CAPCE-approved.
- Credit can be applied for college courses related to your role as a professional (1 college credit = 8 hours of continuing education, not to exceed 12 hours per topic). Examples include, but are not limited to, anatomy, physiology, biology, chemistry, pharmacology, psychology, sociology, statistics, etc.
- Hours from the following courses can be applied hour-for-hour with no maximum: Advanced Trauma Life Support, EE.M.S. Course Instruction, and Wilderness EE.M.S. Training.
Courses that Cannot Be Applied towards Additional Continuing Education Hours: Clinical Rotations, CC.P.R. courses, instructor courses, management/leadership courses, the performance of duty, preceptor hours, serving as a skilled examiner, and volunteer time with agencies.
NREMT requirements for recertification and Continuing education requirements
RECERTIFICATION BY NCCP MODEL
The Paramedic National Continued CompetenN.C.C.P.rogram (N.C.C.P.) requires 60 continuous recertification education hours. The model requires continuing education in three components: (1) a national component, (2) a local/state component, and (3) an individual component.
The National Registry accepts State E.ME.M.S.fice accepted and CAPCE-accredited education, education from E.ME.M.S.ucatioU.S.ograms, U.S. acU.S.ited academic credit, college course, college course, or credit provided by the National Registry Alternative Recertification Credits Policy. All education must be directly related to E.M.S. E.M.S.t care. International providers must complete education from the list of approved United States education sources.
Courses that cannot be applied towards recertification requirements include duplicate courses, clinical rotations, instructor courses, management/leadership courses, the performance of duty, preceptor hours, serving as a skilled examiner, and volunteer time with agencies. Recertification Requirements
Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians
Your current mailing address must be on file to ensure you receive your recertification notification from the department. Failure to recertify an active certificate by the expiration date will result in the certificate being placed in an involuntary inactive status. Failure by an involuntary inactive certificate holder to recertify within four years after the expiration of the current certification cycle renders the certificate null and void without any further action by the board or the department.

C.E. C.E.irements for First-Time Renewal
- Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics renewing their license for the first time are exempt from completing continuing education. Licensees renewing for the first time must have current CPR/ACLS certification.

- Providers are approved by the Bureau of Emergency Medical Oversight and are listed in CEBroker.

- Per 64J-1.008(2)(a) and 64J-1.009(2)(a), F.A.CF.A.C. department will accept affirmation of a licensed E.M.S.provider’ss medical director or a certificate of completion of refresher training from a department-approved continuing education providers proof of compliance with the renewal requirements.
